Efforts to Improve Learning Achievement of PAI in Class VIII-1 Students of SMP Negeri 3 Taliwang Through Portfolio-Based Assignments

Abstract

This study aims to determine: 1) determine the implementation of portfolio-based assignments to improve PAI learning achievement in class VIII-1 SMP Negeri 3 Taliwang, 2) improve PAI learning achievement in class VIII-1 students at SMP Negeri 3 Taliwang through assignment-based assignments. portfolio.

This research is a classroom action research (CAR), consisting of three cycles, each cycle consisting of planning, implementation, observation, analysis, and reflection. The subjects of this study were students of class VIII-1 of SMP Negeri 3 Taliwang who had low learning achievement in PAI subjects due to the lack of variety of learning methods that had been going on. The researcher then used a learning strategy by giving portfolio-based assignments to improve PAI learning achievement in class VIII-1 students of SMP Negeri 3 Taliwang. Data collection techniques in this study were using the test method to determine the level of students' understanding of the concept of Islamic Religious Education, the observation method to observe the learning process of Islamic Religious Education through the provision of portfolio-based assignments (teacher activities, student participation), and the documentation method to determine the names of students. , the number of students and the value of Islamic Religious Education before/after being given learning by giving portfolio-based assignments.

After the action was carried out by giving portfolio-based assignments, the PAI learning achievement of class VIII-1 students of SMP Negeri 3 Taliwang increased. This is indicated by the increase in the average final test assessment of students in each cycle, namely: cycle I = 6.70, cycle II = 7.10, and cycle III = 7.70. From the results of the study, it is hoped that the learning strategy of providing portfolio-based assignments to improve student achievement can be applied by teachers of Islamic Education subjects in particular and other subjects in general.
